They say a good sing-a-long is beneficial for the lungs and the soul, and if you are more keen on belting out showtunes than carols and hymns, A West End Christmas might help blow the winter cobwebs away ready for the holidays.

Returning to Glasgow after some rapturous notices for previous performances, A West End Christmas has two performances today.

Backed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the City of Glasgow Chorus under the baton of Michael England, singing stars Anna O’Byrne, Jacqui Scott,

Jon Boydon and Scott Davies bring together two glitzy collections of big songs from the silver screen and hits from classical musicals such as The Phantom Of The Opera, Les Misérables, Chicago and 42nd Street.

Following today’s concerts, the RSNO then take their live accompaniment to The Snowman on tour around Scotland. With guest presenter Jamie MacDougall narrating during a special showing of the festive classic on the large screen, The Snowman is at Perth Concert Hall on December 19, Dundee Caird Hall on December 20, Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on December 21 and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on December 22.
