Decomposed body murder probe

-

BY SHAUN MILNE

POLICE say they are treating the death of a man whose badly decomposed body was found in a flat as murder.

They fear the body could be that of Gordon Bolam who lived at the address in Glasgow’s Kenmure Street in Pollokshields.

The victim had lain undiscovered for several weeks before being found on Thursday shortly before 10am.

Forensic teams and Police Scot- land’s specialist Major Crimes Unit have been deployed at the scene to piece together what happened.

Confirming a murder inquiry had been launched, Detective Inspector Mark Henderson said: “The man whose identity has yet to be fully established due to the level of decomposition met a violent death. We believe that his body had been within the house for a couple of weeks.

“While we are yet to establish the identity of the man, one line of inquiry is that the body of the man could be that of the householder, Gordon Bolam. However, this cannot yet be confirmed. Relatives have been informed of this possible line of inquiry.

“To establish the circumstances, we are anxious to hear of any information or whereabouts of the householder Gordon Bolam. He was not reported missing to police but I am sure someone must have noticed him not being in the area.”

He added: “Did you see him going to the local shops or a pub nearby?

“If you have seen or had any contact with Mr Bolam in the last three weeks or so, then please give police a call.”
