KILMARNOCK

-

MANAGER:

Lee Clark moved swiftly to reshape the squad he inherited midway through last season. He has brought in a glut of players and overhauled the defence. He has also implemented a different time structure, with the players training when they would be playing. It made little difference last season as they finished 11th and stayed up only by virtue of beating Falkirk in the play-off, but Clark will look to make a bigger impact now, having got his feet firmly under the desk.

FORM GUIDE:

Understandably they look a little disjointed, given the number of players who have come into the club, and are still recovering from their Betfred Cup defeat to Morton. However, given the magnitude of the changes and the fact it’s very early days, a few hiccups are perhaps to be expected.

WHO’S IN:

Callum McFadzean (Sheffield United), Martin Smith (Sunderland), Souleymane Coulibaly (Peterborough United), Jordan Jones (Middlesbrough), Jamie Cobain, (Newcastle United), Joshua Webb (Aston Villa). Loan: Oliver Davies (Swansea City), Mark Waddington (Stoke City), Jonathan Burn (Middlesbrough), Flo Bojaj (Huddersfield Town), William Boyle (Huddersfield Town).

WHO’S OUT:

Julien Faubert (Aris Saloniki), Mark O’Hara (Dundee), David Syme (Partick Thistle), Chris Johnston (Raith Rovers), Jamie Hamill (Queen of the South), Kevin McHattie (Raith Rovers), Lee Ashcroft (Dunfermline Athletic), Tope Obadeyi (Dundee United), Mark Connolly (Crawley Town), Craig Slater (Colchester United), Kallum Higginbotham (Dunfermline Athletic), Dale Carrick (Livingston), Lee McCulloch (retired), Alex Henshall (no club), Conor Brennan (no club), Darryl Westlake (no club), Aaron Splaine (no club), Lee Hodson (Rangers), Stuart Findlay, (Newcastle). STAR PLAYER: Difficult to pick, but Greg Kiltie was important last season. The teenager shone as Kilmarnock managed to retain their top-flight status and much will be expected of him this season as they seek to kick on.

ONES TO WATCH:

Lee Clark has spoken highly of Souleymane Coulibaly, left, insisting the is the kind of player who will get people on to their feet. The diminutive striker was once voted the Confederation of African Football’s most promising talent and was signed by Spurs after impressing at an under-17 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Scotland under-21 international Callum McFadzean hasn’t made the grade at Sheffield United and Clark will look to get the best out of him.
