owners move in, programming everything to their specifications.

Do most of your customers know exactly what they want?

Some people are completely clued up about the technology, while others know what they want and have no idea how to get it, but know that we’re the experts.

Why did you get into this line of work?

After leaving the military I started a business in IT and network security. Eight years ago I decided to develop the automation side in response to client need.

How do you manage that – surely every client has a unique requirement?

Every system we design is an opportunity to exceed our clients’ needs and in cinema the ultimate performance remains our goal because the more convincing the picture and sound quality, the more pleasure you will derive. People expect things like air con, music, windows, lights etc to be automated in even the most budget car and will also want similar quality in their homes as standard.

So what’s the latest in sound quality?

Dolby Atmos, which the company calls “the most significant development in cinema audio since surround sound” and we can now make it available, despite the majority UK cinemas not yet equipping their screens with compatible sound processors and speakers. Is this only for the geeks? No way – the great thing about this technology is that everyone is aware it’s out there and it’s what they want.

So how do they see it in action, if it’s so new?

Lairds of Troon has a Dolby Atmos enable facility open by appointment – and we’re delighted to share it so just get in touch.
