AMONG the cel­e­brated mu­si­cians who have ap­peared at Celtic Con­nec­tions since its launch in 1994 are Bran­ford Marsalis, Joan Baez, Bobby Wo­mack, Van Mor­ri­son, Steve Earle, Kathryn Williams, Tom Pax­ton, Tommy Em­manuel and Richard Thomp­son.

The 2003 edi­tion starred The Water­boys, Sinead O’Con­nor, Bob Geldof, Eve­lyn Glen­nie, Billy Bragg, Laura Cantrell, and Eddi Reader with the Royal Scot­tish Na­tional Orches­tra.

Among the big names who ap­peared in 2009 were Nanci Grif­fith, Ed­wyn Collins, Kate Rusby, Cerys Matthews, Teddy Thomp­son, Yous­sou N’Dour, and Sly and Rob­bie.

Tom Jones sang at the 2011 Celtic Con­nec­tions, a dis­tinc­tion he shared with Glas­gow favourites Love And Money (mak­ing a one-off re­union af­ter 16 years), John Grant, Rosanne Cash, Justin Cur­rie and Bet­tye LaVette.

The 1994 fes­ti­val fea­tured Sharon Shan­non, Dick Gaughan, The Chief­tains, Dougie Ma­cLean, Kate and Anna McGar­rigle, Wolf­s­tone, and Aly Bain and Phil Cun­ning­ham.
