PERTH’S Eve Muirhead, pictured, and her team will face Canada’s Jennifer Jones in the quarter-finals of the National Grand Slam tournament after winning their last Group C match in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland. The former world champion and her colleagues Lauren Gray, Vicki Chalmers and Jennifer Dodds, needed to beat Alberta’s Casey Scheidegger to guarantee their last eight spot, and they had to go all the way to the final shot to win it 5-4.

In the men’s event, defending champion Bruce Mouat reached the semi-finals, yet he was still overshadowed by fellow Scot Ross Paterson, who sensationally knocked out world champion Niklas Edin.
