Great myth about Benny Lynch

I SEE that in last week’s paper you repeated the myth that Benny Lynch was “Scotland’s first-ever world boxing champion” (The Big Read, December 30).

In fact, Edinburgh’s Johnny Hill was Scotland’s first-ever world flyweight champion.

That is why the British Boxing Board of Control yearbook for 2005 contains an article by me explaining why every claim that Lynch was Scotland’s first world boxing champion is totally inaccurate.
