WHISKY festivals attract thousands of fans from Scotland and around the world. VisitScotl­and lists several examples: Fife Whisky Festival, March 8-10, Cupar; Inverness Whisky & Gin Festival’s The Big Day Out (April 13, with fringe events running from 11-14);

Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, May 1-6; Stirling Whisky Festival, May 10-12; The Islay Festival of Music and Malt, May 24-June 1; Edinburgh Whisky Stramash, May 18-19; Dramathon, Speyside, October 19. The Stramash is “an event of mystery, entertainm­ent, comicality and madcap pioneering”; Dramathon is a distance race along the Speyside Way between Glenfarcla­s and Glenfiddic­h distilleri­es.
