Robert Burns was born Jan­uary 25 1759 in the vil­lage of Al­loway, near Ayr and died on July 21, 1796 at the age of 37

Burns’ home vil­lage of Al­loway is now a sub­urb of Ayr, where his cot­tage still stands to this day

Burns Cot­tage, orig­i­nally built in 1757 by his Wil­liam Bur­ness was re­stored in 2010 and serves as part of the Robert Burns Birth­place Mu­seum

The first Burns Supper was held in July of 1802, when nine of Burn’s close friends got to­gether to mark the fifth an­niver­sary of his pass­ing. It was hosted in his cot­tage in Al­loway This Burns Night marks the 216th an­nual supper
