Woman, 89, robbed of shopping bag

-

AN 89-year-old woman was knocked to the ground and left with a dislocated shoulder after thieves wrestled a shopping bag off her in Glasgow.

Police said the elderly woman was in a close in Onslow Drive, Dennistoun, on Friday when two men approached her and pulled her bag from her.

She was knocked to the ground and taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The two men ran off with her hessian bag – it had Celino’s written across it – and it was found abandoned in Whitehill Street. Several items had been stolen from inside.

The first suspect was said to be white, with a gaunt appearance and a local accent. He is in his early 20s and around 5 ft 11 inches in height, with short black hair. He was wearing a blue tracksuit top with an orange T-shirt underneath and blue tracksuit trousers.

The second suspect is white, with a gaunt appearance and local accent. He is also in his early 20s and around 5 ft 7 inches in height with short black hair. He was wearing a dark green or blue jacket and black jogging trousers.

Officers were carrying out door-todoor enquiries in the area and were reviewing CCTV footage for any information.

Detective Constable Stephen McCabe said: “It’s imperative that we locate these two men, whose shameful actions left an 89-year-old woman with a dislocated shoulder and in pain.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to consider if they saw these two men, did you see them loitering around the street. Did you see them as they made off with the woman’s bag?”

Anyone with information is asked to call officers on 101.
