Girl raped near castle

POLICE are appealing for information after a teenager was raped in a wooded area of South Lanarkshire.

The girl was with friends in woods near Bothwell Castle on Wednesday but after breaking away from them and being on her own, she was approached by a man who then raped her.

He is described as white, in his 20s, with a slim build and shaved head, and wore a red T-shirt and blue shorts.

He was riding a black mountain bike with green neon writing on the frame and tyre which was also fitted with mud guards to the front and rear wheels. Officers have appealed for information on the incident or suspect with a “fairly distinctive” bike.
