Police raids net £40,000 of heroin and cocaine

-

POLICE have arrested seven men after finding heroin and cocaine worth £40,000 at several houses in Aberdeen.

Officers raided properties on Richmond Terrace and Balnagask Avenue, while several vehicles were searched in the city centre.

Heroin worth £32,000 and cocaine valued at £7,000 were recovered. The men, aged 17, 21, 24, 26, 39, 42 and 45, are expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court tomorrow, and Thursday, April 1.

Detective Inspector Sam Buchan said: “These seizures again demonstrate our ongoing commitment to tackling the illegal supply of drugs in our communities.”

THE upcoming Holyrood elections will be a “battle for the soul of the country”, LibDem Alex Cole-Hamilton said, as he hit out at Nicola Sturgeon’s “entitled” SNP.

The MSP told his party’s Scottish spring conference: “My five years in Parliament have opened my eyes to just how fat and entitled the SNP have become in 14 years of government.

“There is a fire in the mountain of Scottish Politics right now, once-great institutions have been tainted by the rot that now seeps through every extremity of the party of government.”

He insisted that the SNP administration at Holyrood had been “failing and in decline long before Covid-19 arrived”.

Cole-Hamilton said there had been problems for years in issues such as waits for mental health treatment for children and young people and hospital waiting times.

“There have been warning lights flashing right across the dashboard of Scottish public policy for years,” he said.
