GROUP B HUGO LOPEZ

ROMELU Lukaku told Inter Milan team-mate Christian Eriksen “I love you” after scoring a double to help Belgium to sink Russia in their opening Euro 2020 match.

Denmark talisman Eriksen collapsed during the earlier Group B matched against fellow Scandinavians Finland and received emergency treatment on the field.

But with news that Eriksen was awake and recovering in hospital, UEFA confirmed that the Belgium v Russia match would go ahead as planned.

And former Manchester United striker Lukaku wasted no time in opening the scoring after pouncing on a mistake by Andrey Semenov.

During his celebration the striker grabbed a camera and shouted “Chris, Chris, I love you” down its lens.

Thomas Meunier doubled the lead for Roberto Martinez’s much-fancied side before Lukaku, fresh from a Serie A win with Inter, added a late third

Speaking to ITV before the match, former Everton boss Martinez said: “It was a real shock. We have team-mates in that dressing and players who have shared a lot of time with Eriksen.

“We hope he has a full speed of recovery.”
