Kelty clinch League 2 title

KELTY Hearts secured the cinch League Two title with a 1-0 win over Stenhousem­uir at New Central Park.

The Maroon Machine had been held to goalless draws in their last two games, but Max Kucheriavy­i headed in with six minutes left to spark the celebratio­ns after Annan suffered an unexpected 4-2 home defeat by Albion Rovers.

As a result, Kevin Thomson’s men opened up an unassailab­le 16-point lead with five matches remaining. Albion had raced into a 2-0 lead at Galabank with firsthalf goals from Blair Malcolm and Scott Roberts before Tommy Goss reduced the deficit just before the break.

Tony Wallace hauled Annan level with 20 minutes left. But, Sean Fagan struck with five minutes left before Kieran Dolan added a fifth for the Wee Rovers in stoppage time.

Forfar were held to a 1-1 draw at home by bottom club Cowdenbeat­h. Samuel Ompreon put the Blue Brazil ahead on the stroke of half-time, but substitute Scott Shepherd equalised with 13 minutes left.

Stirling beat Stranraer 1-0 with a second-half goal from Aaron Dunsmore at Forthbank to end their two-match losing run.

Meanwhile, Fraser Fyvie’s stoppage-time goal rescued a point for Cove Rangers in their top-of-the-table clash at Airdrie.

They remain five points clear in Scottish League One after the 1-1 draw at the Excelsior Stadium after Gabriel McGill had given the hosts a second-minute lead.

Third-place Montrose were held to a 0-0 draw at Dumbarton and had Elijah Simpson sent off in injury time. Jack Brown’s first goal for Peterhead gave their survival hopes a boost after a 1-0 win over Falkirk moved them four points clear of the bottom two.

Queen’s Park’s won against Clyde, Bob McHugh’s secondhalf winner the difference.

Goals from Kevin Cawley and Euan Henderson and Stefan Scougall’s penalty gave Alloa a comfortabl­e 3-0 win over bottom side East Fife.
