Power Book III: Raising Kanan (StarzPlay, from Sun)

The prequel to the acclaimed crime drama Power, co-created by rapper Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson, is back for its second season. Once again it focuses on the origin story of Kanan Stark as he becomes drawn into the drugs world of his mother, Raquel ‘Raq’ Thomas.

Although Kanan is back in Queens, he’s uncertain about his future within the family business - and the past seems like a puzzling place too thanks to the secret harboured by Detective Howard. As Kanan continues his search for the truth, Raq embarks on a new, ambitious scheme - to expand her territory into Mafiacontrolled areas, which could bring in heaps more money, or end in disaster.

Meanwhile, Lou-Lou develops plans for his record label, while Marvin tries to make amends with Jukebox.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (Disney+, from Wed)

The title may sound like a spoof, but you probably shouldn’t poke fun at it in front of She-Hulk herself - it might get her angry, and then all hell would break loose... The character was born in the first issue of The Savage She-Hulk in 1980 after lawyer Jennifer Walters received a blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner.

When enraged, she becomes a large, powerful, green-tinged version of herself, but retains much of her personal qualities, including her intelligence and control of her emotions.

She makes her live-action debut in this new series, which shares its continuity with the Marvel Cinematic Universe; as a result Mark Ruffalo will appear as Banner.

Tatiana Maslany plays Walters, who specialises in cases involving superhumans - a topic she knows a lot about.

The Disappearance of Gabby Petito (Paramount+, from Thu)

In July 2021, Gabby Petito and her fiance, Brian Laundrie, embarked on what should have been a four-month road trip across the US. However, just a few weeks later, she vanished, and he refused to speak about what had happened when he turned up at his parents’ home in Florida, having driven there alone from Wyoming. In September, Petito’s remains were found, and in November, it was revealed he’d admitted to strangling her before eventually killing himself.

This disturbing yet compelling three-part documentary examines the events surrounding the couple’s deaths.

Petito’s parents discuss the torment they’ve suffered since their daughter vanished, while internet sleuths reveal their part in bringing the case to a close.

Echoes (Netflix, from Fri)

Neighbours may have come to an end, but it seems that Netflix feels we still have space in our hearts for an Australian drama.

Mini-series Echoes is the brainchild of Vanessa Gazy, whose only other major TV work is the sun-kissed series Eden, which was picked up by the streaming giant last year.

Identical twins have often been depicted in a negative light in thrillers and horror movies, and this seven-parter takes a similar approach. Leni and Gina (both played by Michelle Monaghan) are certainly rather odd.

Since they were children, they have led double lives, each playing the other at different times.

As adults, they share two homes, their husbands and even a child. However, everything comes crashing down around them when one of the sisters disappears...
