SkyMed (Paramount+, from Tue)

Although Holby City is no more, medical dramas are not exactly a rarity on our screens. Casualty continues to be a ratings-winner for the BBC on Saturday nights, while This Is Going to Hurt packed a punch earlier this year. So, will new offering SkyMed find an audience? Streaming service Paramount+ is certainly hoping so. The series hails from Canada and probably has more in common with the classic Australian drama The Flying Doctors than the aforementioned shows. Each episode follows the fortunes of pilots flying air ambulances in remote Northern Manitoba, as well as the nurses who accompany them. They soon realise that to be successful, they must form close working relationships.

See (Apple TV+, from Fri)

The sci-fi drama series is back for its third and final series. For the uninitiated, the tale takes place hundreds of years after the entire human race has lost its sight. The future is a brutal and primitive place to be and now, a year since Baba Voss (Jason Momoa) defeated his arch enemy Edo, who also happened to be his brother, our hero is living remotely in a forest. But not for long, it seems. A Trivantian scientist has developed a new and devastating form of sighted weaponry, which poses another threat to the safety of humankind. As a result, Baba returns to Paya so that he can act as his tribe’s protector once more. Once again the series is utilising cast and crew who are blind or have low vision, something which has resulted in the production being acclaimed for its representation of the visually impaired.
