Flowers in the Attic: The Origin (Paramount+, from Tue)

In 1979, VC Andrews published Flowers in the Attic, the first novel in her Dollanger Series. It was an instant hit, selling more than 40 million copies worldwide. This new four-part drama acts as a prequel and stars Jemima Rooper as Olivia Winfield, a spirited young woman who is happy working alongside her father - until she meets the handsome and charming Malcolm Foxworth (Max Irons). One of the nation’s most eligible bachelors, he sweeps Olivia off her feet and the pair are soon married. Unfortunat­ely, the love and happiness she expected quickly evaporates when she becomes the mistress of the imposing Foxworth Hall.

Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me

At just 30 years of age, Selena Gomez has already achieved more than many of us do in a lifetime. She’s a singer, songwriter and actress who has been in the limelight since she was 10 when she landed a role in the children’s series Barney & Friends alongside her reallife pal Demi Lovato. Since then she’s had a string of hits on both the big and small screens, and released a number of albums and singles. However, life hasn’t always been easy, and in as this frank documentar­y, she opens up about her struggles with illness, anxiety and depression, as well as her bipolar disorder diagnosis.

The Mosquito Coast (Apple TV+, from Fri)

The series based on Paul Theroux’s best-selling novel and starring his nephew, Justin Theroux, is back for its second series. Its predecesso­r saw the main protagonis­t, inventor and idealist Allie Fox, go undergroun­d with his family as they tried to keep one step ahead of the US authoritie­s, cartels and hitmen. However, the climax charted their narrow escape

Enola Holmes, Netflix from Mexico, and we pick up with them as they attempt to start afresh in the Guatemalan jungle, where they meet up with an old friend and her community of refugees. Unfortunat­ely, any feelings of security prove short lived when the Foxes become embroiled with a local drug lord.

Causeway (Apple TV+, from Fri)

Clearly impressed by the success of the Netflix movie Don’t Look Up, Jennifer Lawrence has decided to enter the streaming universe again, but on a different platform. The Oscar-winner is also one of the producers of this psychologi­cal drama, which was filmed on location in New Orleans. Lawrence plays Lynsey, a former soldier who finds it difficult to adjust to civilian life after suffering a traumatic brain injury while on a tour of Afghanista­n. Lawrence and co-star Brian Tyree Henry, who plays Lynsey’s friend James, have been singled out for praise by critics.

Enola Holmes (Netflix, from Fri)

The first series of this lightheart­ed and thoroughly entertaini­ng spin-off from Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes tales went down a treat with viewers, so it’s good to see it back for a second run. Millie Bobby Brown returns as Enola, the little sister of the great detective (Henry Cavill), who is determined not to live in her illustriou­s brother’s shadow. After solving her first case, she’s opening her own agency - but soon discovers that being a female detective-for-hire isn’t easy in Victorian London. But, just as she thought she’d have to shut up shop, an intriguing mystery falls into Enola’s lap.
