JOE HART

Did not have all that much to do in his last Old Firm clash at Celtic Park, with his defenders not helping him out at the Rangers goal. Tidy enough with his feet.

ALISTAIR JOHNSTON

Had a great battle with Fabio Silva which he did not always win. Fought his corner well though, and made a few darting runs the other way that the winger failed to track.

CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS

Showed importance to his side with his presence, particularly in closing stages. Won headers, organised team- mates, and a brilliant pick out of Daizen Maeda set him on his way to tee up Celtic’s second.

LIAM SCALES

Saw plenty of the ball, but looked panicked early on and gave up possession a few times. Made some important interceptions and clearances late on.

GREG TAYLOR

Ran himself into the ground and was flagging long before the end because of it. Helped stem the threat of James Tavernier and Dujon Sterling, and tried to support Maeda.

CALLUM McGREGOR

Maybe one day a Rangers manager will realise that giving the Celtic captain the freedom of the midfield is not the smartest move. Ran the game from about the 20th minute, and set up Celtic’s opener.

MATT O’RILEY

But for penalty miss might have reached a nine, but the midfielder can be proud of another brilliant contribution. Like McGregor, given far too much space by Rangers, and made full use of it. Great finish for opener, and was not helped by a long VAR check before hitting his tame spot- kick. Man of the match.

REO HATATE

Surprisingly quiet. And when he did get on the ball, was not at his incisive best.

JAMES FORREST

The renaissance continues. Gave Borna Barisic huge problems and almost caused John Souttar to score an own goal in the opening seconds. Impressive until running out of steam.

DAIZEN MAEDA

Great start against Tavernier as his energy caused a headache once again for the Rangers skipper. Fine touch and cross as John Lundstram poked home Celtic’s second. He may be erratic, but he brings so much to the party.

KYOGO FURUHASHI

Quiet until pouncing upon a Johnston pass to bring the first meaningful save out of Jack Butland. Full of energy, but could not get another sniff before being replaced.

Anthony Ralston ( for Johnston, 74) Big defender helped repel late Rangers surge.

Tomoki Iwata ( for Hatate, 80) Looked a bit nervous, slashing at the ball a couple of times, but got away with it.
