Genk table five-year contract to keep wanted man Vossen
CELTIC target Jelle Vossen is to be offered a new five-year contract by Genk as the Belgian club launch a last-ditch bid to try to keep him.
Vossen is expected to snub the new deal and push for a move having already spoken of his admiration for Celtic. He is due to thrash out his future with Genk officials next week.
The 26-year-old was on loan at Middlesbrough last season – scoring nine goals and playing in their Championship play-off final defeat to Norwich City – and they had been considering a permanent deal.
But they have cooled their interest after letting their option to sign Vossen for £2.4m lapse as they now move on to their other targets.
Celtic still won’t have it all their own way, though. Sheffield Wednesday are on his trail while Club Brugge are bidding to sign him as well.
