TRAINER Clive Cox reports Kodi Bear to be in excellent health after the colt made a triumphant return following a serious illness in the Listed Unibet Midsummer Stakes at Windsor on Saturday, writes Colin McNeill.

Kodi Bear was a smart two-year-old but any dreams of a Classic campaign were shattered in the spring when the Dewhurst Stakes runner-up suffered a bad infection in his lymph drainage canal. However, Kodi Bear showed he had made a full recovery with victory in a Listed contest at the Berkshire course over an extended mile.

The excellent way the son of Kodiac has taken his comeback run suggests he could step back up to Group One company in the Prix Jean Prat on July 12. “He’s come out of the race really well. He’s well, eaten up and is pleased with himself and naturally so are we,” said the Lambourn handler.
