McNamara sets unwanted record
JACKIE McNAMARA has set two unwanted records after a calamitous start as York City boss – his side have equalled their worst losing run and had their biggest home defeat for 58 years.
The former Dundee United and Partick Thistle boss opted to hand debuts to four under 21-year-olds on Saturday but it backfired as Accrington Stanley romped to a 5-1 win.
York were destroyed 6-0 by Portsmouth in midweek and they are now one game away from their worst ever run in their history – with McNamara in charge of six of those eight defeats on the spin.
However, McNamara has vowed to get it right in time for their next game in two weeks against Bristol Rovers.
He said: “I’ve got two weeks to put my stamp on things. I know I’ve got a big job on, but I’m determined to put things right.”
