Indycar champ has new wife and baby

-

FORMER IndyCar driver Dario Franchitti has revealed that he has remarried and fathered a baby daughter.

The four-time champion wed Eleanor Robb last year and the couple have had a girl, Sofia. The 43-year-old was previously married to Hollywood actress Ashley Judd but the pair split in 2013.

Franchitti, from Bathgate, West Lothian, was forced to retire after suffering a broken back, a fractured right ankle and a concussion in a horrific 200mph crash three years ago.

He had previously said he was single again after moving back to Scotland but has now revealed he is happily married to London-born Eleanor.

Asked about his life since retiring, he told BBC Radio Scotland: “I got remarried and my wife and I spend time here in Scotland and we spend time in London.

“I’d been homesick for 15 years. But I’m still involved with Indy Car racing.”

Franchitti and his new wife are believed to have met through their mutual friend Pippa Mann, the Londonborn Indy Car racer. Their baby daughter was born at the end of last year.

Franchitti and Kiss The Girls star Judd wed at Skibo Castle in 2001 but divorced in 2014.

In the BBC interview, Franchitti also told how he had suffered short term memory loss due to his 2013 crash, and concussion suffered during his career had altered his personality.

He said: “It is made worse by being tired being dehydrated or stress. I don’t deal with stress as well as I used to.”
