Top chef and her partner to open new bistro in latest addition to capital menu

-

A CHEF who has worked in two of Edinburgh’s top restaurants is to open a new bistro in the city with her partner.

Former Castle Terrace couple Roberta Hall and Shaun Mccarron are opening their first restaurant this summer, on Albert Place, near Leith Walk.

Set to launch mid-june, the Little Chartroom will be a neighbourhood-style bistro with chef Ms Hall in the kitchen and Mr Mccarron managing front of house.

Ms Hall spent three years working at Michelinstarred The Kitchin before assisting mentor Dominic Jack in the opening of Castle Terrace, where she worked for six years and where she went on to become head chef.

Before The Kitchin, Ms Hall trained at a number of restaurants in Edinburgh before spending a year and a half working at The Burj al Arab in Dubai.

During her time at Castle Terrace, she met Mr Mccarron, who joined as a commis waiter, working up into the role of restaurant manager.

He also spent time at Simon Rogan’s original pop-up restaurant Roganic.

The couple ran The Abbot’s Elm in Cambridgeshire together before moving back home to Edinburgh, to open a restaurant of their own.

It is named the Little Chartroom after Ms Hall’s love of sailing.
