Soccer star’s father knocked down on holiday

-

POLICE have arrested a driver who allegedly mowed down Dundee United star James Keatings’ father.

The suspect was held and his car impounded after a police appeal for information following the incident on Saturday morning on the holiday island of Gran Canaria.

Striker James, 26, revealed his 55-year-old father, Gerry, had been knocked over in a Facebook post the same day.

Yesterday, local police said: “We have found the Nissan Primera involved in the incident and have arrested the suspected driver.”

James, who was on the trip with Gerry and stepmum Linda Mcewan, 56, after being sidelined as he recovers from a groin injury, said on Facebook: “Wake up to find out my dad had been run over on holiday at three in the morning and the person who’d done it didn’t even stop and left him unconscious to be found by police on the middle of the road. Hopefully will get everything sorted out and we can get him home when fit to fly.”
