Work starts on cycle lanes in the capital
NEW cycle paths are being built on one of the busiest roads in the capital.
Edinburgh City Council said work is due to get under way this week at various locations on Leith Walk to install what it believes is the first cycleway of its kind in Scotland.
Already a familiar sight in a number of cities including London, the new features, which are short stretches of kerbs laid back-to-back, with collapsible bollards between them, have been selected after consultation with representatives of the local community and pedestrian and cycling organisations, the council said.
Trial lane separators were removed after being deemed unfit for purpose at the site.
