Watchdog Live BBC 1, 8pm There’s nothing worse than forking out for a purchase – whether a holiday or household appliance, or something smaller – only to find out when it’s too late that you’ve been taken for a ride. If only there was someone to look out for honest consumers... Thankfully, Watchdog Live is back to do just that, as presenters Matt Allwright, Steph Mcgovern and Nikki Fox regroup at their Salford studio. In the opening episode, they take a look at car parking charges, specifical­ly an astonishin­g new way that parking companies can hit motorists with charges – and why we should not necessaril­y have to pay them.

The Assassinat­ion of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story

BBC 2, 9pm Ryan Murphy’s vivid dramatisat­ion of the fashion designer’s murder continues apace, as we move to San Diego in 1980. We find the young Andrew Cunanan at home with his family, idolised by his father Modesto (played by acclaimed Filipino stage actor Jon Jon Briones), and held above his siblings. Seemingly nothing could be better for the lad, especially after Modesto gets a new job – what could possibly happen that turns him into the twisted individual we have by now come to know?

STV,9pm Joyce is furious with Sam and Monty after Sammy’s disastrous performanc­es in Neptunes, and she soon finds out Monty has given him a Solana contract. Meanwhile, Doreen jumps the gun by sending Pauline’s novel to be published, and Sheron and Billy spend a day reliving their youth. Elsewhere, Denis and Nigel are increasing­ly reluctant to arrest Lesley, and Mateo worries about yet another concubine cruise with Crystal Hennessy-vass.

Charity worker Freddie, who’s 27, is set up on a date with 22-year-old fashion buyer Rebecca, hoping that she will be the girl who will get his unique sense of humour. Meanwhile, Army medic Lyn, 36, meets Steve, a 38-yearold ex-army engineer, but the date takes an interestin­g turn when she reveals she is pregnant. Elsewhere, 52-yearold jazz singer Gina is set up with 57-year-old singersong­writer Nik.

Exposure: Great Ormond Street: The Child First and Always?

STV, 11.05pm Since it first opened in 1852 with just 10 beds, Great Ormond Street Hospital in Bloomsbury, London has become an internatio­nal centre of excellence in child healthcare , with 250,000 patients every year. However, the national treasure’s Gastroente­rology Department’s treatment of a controvers­ial disease has troubled fellow medics for years and the hospital has stopped taking new referrals for most conditions. This film reveals how some children were over-treated with potentiall­y harmful drugs, and features interviews with families about their child’s treatment.
