MPS con­sider cladding ban

UK min­is­ters are to con­sider ban­ning flammable cladding for all high-rise build­ings af­ter a fu­ri­ous back­lash over a review into the Gren­fell Tower in­ferno.

Con­sul­ta­tions will be launched into out­law­ing the ma­te­rial and the stud­ies used to as­sess it, James Bro­ken­shire, UK Hous­ing Sec­re­tary, an­nounced.

It fol­lows a wave of crit­i­cism af­ter Dame Ju­dith Hackitt re­leased her re­port for re­form of build­ing reg­u­la­tions af­ter the June 14 dis­as­ter left 71 dead. It failed to rec­om­mend ei­ther mea­sure.
