Royal socks ap­peal

PRINCESS Anne, pa­tron of the Iona Abbey Cap­i­tal Ap­peal, smiles as she re­ceives a gift of hand-knit­ted socks af­ter speak­ing at an event for the Iona Com­mu­nity at The Glas­gow Univer­sity Me­mo­rial Chapel. She con­grat­u­lated the com­mu­nity on fundrais­ing ef­forts so far.

Also yesterday, the princess, who is royal pa­tron of both the Mo­tor Neu­rone Dis­ease (MND) As­so­ci­a­tion and MND Scot­land, joined 1,200 sci­en­tists and clin­i­cians from around the world in Glas­gow for the In­ter­na­tional Sym­po­sium on ALS/MND.

There she gave an open­ing ad­dress de­scribed as “in­spir­ing” by del­e­gates.
