Man, 76, dies in house fire

A MAN, aged 76, has died in a house fire.

Emergency services were called to a building in The Leys, Macduff, Aberdeenshire, at around 5am yesterday, but despite the efforts of both police and firefighters, he died.

Neighbouring properties were evacuated, but nobody else was injured.

Detective Inspector Sam Buchan of Police Scotland said: “Our enquiries have started in conjunction with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“However we do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances.”
