Commons and Lords Rugby Club victorious
The Commons and Lords Rugby Football Club won its last match of the 2022 season against the London Japanese Vets team in an exciting home match. Ben Everitt, Conservative MP for Milton Keynes North, who played in the backs, admitted the team was “not used to winning so no one was actually keeping score”. However, the final tally was thought to be around 40-20. The match was played at the Richmond Athletic Ground on 12 November. The team’s next fixture is against the Scottish Parliament at the Richmond Athletic Ground on 4 February. Liberal Democrat peer Lord Addington is currently the team’s club captain, with the line-up changing depending on availability. Mark Pawsey, Conservative MP for Rugby and Sam Tarry, Labour MP for Ilford South are among the regulars.
Everitt said: “It is excellent for building relationships across the parliaments – the Irish stand-in captain and I managed to resolve a case for someone in my constituency through playing together and becoming friends.”
