- Reece James’s footballing medals stolen in ‘cowardly’ robbery

Chelsea defender Reece James has revealed that a group of burglars broke into his house and stole his Champions League winners medal while he was playing against Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday night. In a post on Instagram, James said the police have “firm leads” in their investigation but appealed on the public to help identify the “low-life” individuals responsible for the theft.

Elton John postpones farewell tour dates after hip injury

Elton John has postponed the European and UK dates of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour due to “considerable pain” and “discomfort” caused by an injury sustained while on holiday. The veteran musician says he fell “awkwardly” on a hard surface at the end of his summer break, injuring his hip. “Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving,” he said. John shared that he still intends to perform during his upcoming charity gig for Global Citizen on 25 September “as I don’t want to let a charity down”. This is the second time John has rescheduled this tour.

Student took own life after plagiarism allegation, inquest hears

A radiography student took his own life after he was accused of plagiarism for his final dissertation, an inquest has heard. Alistair Hall was found dead at his room in student halls in Portsmouth, Hampshire, on 27 June 2020. He had suffered a heart arrhythmia having taken an overdose of a drug he had ordered on the internet. A note found on his computer stated that “things went wrong one too many times” and referred to a previous suicide attempt when he had problems with his ALevels as well as the death of his mother.

The inquest heard that the 22-year-old had been informed a month before his death that his dissertation would receive a zero mark because it was considered to have plagiarised an example work provided for his course.

Prince’s will to remain secret to protect ‘dignity’ of Queen

The Duke of Edinburgh's will is to remain secret to protect the “dignity” of the Queen because of her constitutional role, the High Court has ruled. Philip died aged 99 just two months

before he would have turned 100. After the death of a senior member of the royal family, it has been convention for over a century that an application to seal their will is made to the president of the family division of the High Court. Lawyers representing Philip's estate had argued at the private hearing that news of that hearing and the application “might generate wholly unfounded conjecture” that would be “deeply intrusive” to the Queen and royal family.
