Williamson quits as bullying claims mount
Minister resigns after facing accusations of ‘immoral’ behaviour
Rishi Sunak last night lost his first minister to a scandal within two weeks of taking office, as Sir Gavin Williamson quit over bullying claims. It came after a slew of allegations left the MP facing at least three investigations. Claims he told a civil servant to “slit your throat” were condemned as “unacceptable” by a colleague, and his ex-deputy called his behaviour “threatening”. Sir Gavin said he would fight to “clear his name”.
