Judge made sexually explicit comment about contestant

David Walliams is accused of making sexually explicit remarks about a Britain’s Got Talent contestant. The comedian, who is a judge on the ITV series, made the comments during an audition show in January 2020 at the London Palladium.

Walliams’s remarks were picked up by microphones placed on the desks by producers in order to pick up the conversations between judges after each audition. One moment caught by the

audio, which was in a transcript obtained by The Guardian, allegedly hears Walliams, 51, describe a woman as being like “the slightly boring girl you meet in the pub that thinks you want to fuck them, but you don’t”. An additional instance hears Walliams call a pensioner, who was auditioning, a “cunt” three times while the man was walking off stage. The contestant had poked lighthearted fun at the comedian during his routine.

Walliams has said sorry for the comments, telling The Indepedent: “I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020. These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.”

Most prolific speed camera in UK revealed

Speed cameras on the A40 in northwest London have been identified as the most profilic in the country for catching motorists exceeding the limit. Figures show that cameras on the busy road into London have caught 49,050 speeding drivers in the last year alone – more than double the number any other camera caught over the 12-month period. Price comparison website Confused.com sent Freedom of Information requests to each of the UK’s 46 police forces regarding the number of intended prosecutions for speeding offences captured by cameras in their areas. The research, which compared figures from the 36 forces that responded, revealed that more than 1.74 million drivers were caught by speed cameras on major routes in the last year, amounting £45.7m in fines.

Hoppy IPA beers may lower risk of Alzheimer’s

Drinking hoppy beers might reduce the risk of getting dementia, according to a study. The chemicals which give that unique bitter flavour to IPAs have prevented protein plaques linked to Alzheimer’s from clumping together in lab dishes. Despite the study, Italian researchers have warned against using

this to justify drinking more beer. Excessive alcohol consumption can cause cognitive issues as it can shrink the brain’s white matter, which is what sends signals to different parts of the brain. Every type of beer is made using hop flower extracts which has natural antioxidants in, which is why it’s believed to protect cells in the body. But Tettnang, which is a hop grown in Germany and used in amber and light lager, was discovered to be the best at clearing protein clumps.

Driver blocked ambulance on way to emergency

A driver who repeatedly blocked an ambulance on its way to an emergency was handed a suspended sentence for his “senseless and irresponsible” behaviour. Albert Butler, 38, tried to hinder the progress of the vehicle in Maidenhead, putting other drivers at risk, a court heard. Butler, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and obstructing/hindering an emergency worker in a hearing at Reading Magistrates’ Court on 10 August.

Appearing at Reading Crown Court on 2 November, he was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 18 months, ordered to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 200 hours of unpaid work over an 18-month period. He was also banned from driving for three years and ordered to pay costs of £600.

Mark Ainsworth, director of operations at South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This was the worst standard of driving suffered by one of our hard-working ambulance crews who were responding on blue lights to a potentially very serious emergency that I have ever seen. The senseless and irresponsible actions undertaken by the defendant put himself, other road users and our ambulance crew at risk of serious injury or even worse.”
