Hunt told to come clean on non-dom tax loss
Experts say abolishing loophole would raise extra £3bn a year
Ministers have been told to come clean on the argument for keeping non-dom tax status after the chancellor said he did not know how much money axeing it would raise. Jeremy Hunt insists the economy wouldn’t benefit, but Labour demanded figures on how much the Treasury loses through the loophole. Think tank the Institute for Fiscal Studies told The Independent that its best estimate was abolishing the measure would be worth about £3bn a year.
