It’s a win-win for South Manchester

SOUTH MANCHESTER SPORTS 1ST THE VILLAGE

SOUTH Manchester Sports took another step towards securing the Manchester Accountants League Premier League title with a resounding win against bogey team The Village.

South dominated from start to finish and they forged ahead on five minutes when Toby Levy cracked home a volley. Levy doubled the lead minutes later following good work from Adam Lavin.

A moment of sublime brilliance from Ben Peppi led to South’s third goal. Picking the ball up 40 yards out, he raced past six players before he drew the keeper and rolled the ball home.

The game was now effectively over and as The Village tired, Adam Jackson ran the length of the pitch to make it 4-0. Lavin completed the rout following another jinking run.

The day got even better for South Manchester when they discovered that rivals MACE had lost to third-placed Miam Miam meaning South need three wins out of five games to secure the title.

South manager Darryl Lee said. “To have a fully fit squad at this time of the season, with so many big games to come, is a plus and the Pesach break has clearly worked wonders for my players.

“We have a cup quarter-final next Sunday so the big games are now coming thick and fast. It’s a cliché but we will take each game one at a time and hopefully we can add to the Handicup which is already in the trophy cabinet.”
