Ladies ready to roar as league season awaits

- BY JAMES MASTERS

FOOTBALL London Lions Ladies are stepping up their recruitment drive after confirming their entry into next season’s Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire League.

European Maccabi Games star Hollie Springer is helping to mould a squad capable of challenging for success next term, but is keen to add fresh talent over the next few weeks.

The team will hold their next training session at Rowley Lane on June 28 and Springer is keen for girls of all abilities to join the team.

“We’ve got about 12 or 15 girls in the squad at the moment but we really want to get more girls involved,” she said.

“We’re the first Jewish-only ladies team to compete in the Beds & Herts league and we want to be able to grow the game.

“We want to have a team that will help us grow the game and get junior teams going below that.

“It doesn’t matter what level they’re playing at because we’ll give everyone the necessary coaching and help them improve.

“This team is going to be the first ladies Jewish football team to compete in a league, which is an amazing prospect.

“I see it as the beginning of the future for female Jewish football.”

Any prospective players should contact Hollie at hollie.springer@live. co.uk for my information.
