Zuriel Solomon described some of the football his team played in the 5-2 win at London Maccabi Lions A as “amazing” as Faithfold marched six points clear at the top of the Premier Division.

The Faithfold manager looked on proudly as his team ran the Lions ragged, marching into a 4-0 lead at halftime, in a performance inspired by two-goal hero Rocky Spitzer.

There was also a goal for Lions old boy Mike Pearson, who had rejoined the Superhoops a fortnight ago, Daryl Phillips and Jonny Haik as the Superhoops claimed their seventh league win in nine games.

Solomons said: “We stormed out of the blocks and our high-tempo football rattled the Lions.

“Going into the second half, I knew the next goal would be crucial and to be fair to Lions, they dominated parts of the second 45 minutes as they had nothing to lose.

“Lions have the makings of a good team and have made some good signings. They will become hard to beat, but we had too much for them today.”

Second half strikes from Lee Cash and Alex Bowman proved little more than scant consolation for the Lions.

Interim manager Andy Landesberg commented: “It was a bad day at the office for Lions today. Faithfold were the deserved winners, taking the game away from us in the first 30 minutes.

“We rejigged things at half time and the boys responded very well. Faithfold were hanging on, but their experienced players slowed the game down and we couldn’t find the next goal to make a real match of it.

“We are very much a work i n progress. I hope we can learn some lessons from the first 45 minutes and build on the second half performance.” TOTTENHAM CHUTSPAH AC MILL HILL

Ben Zloof (4), Mark Truman, Rob Kleinmann and Nick Kershberg enabled AC Mill Hill to move a point clear at the top of JC MSFL Division Four following a 7-1 victory over Tottenham Chutspah.

Mill Hill boss Joe Levy said: “We are capable of even better and just need to cut out some sloppy play.”
