HISTORY AND QUESTIONS
The story of non-Jews who offered foster homes — and a new life — for many Kindertransport children has been a neglected area. I have been researching one English churchgoing family who opened their doors to a five-year old Jewish girl from Vienna.
I am now researching a book on this subject. I would be grateful if any readers could share stories about nonJewish families who answered the desperate call for refuge in 1938 and 1939. Mike Levy mike@keystage-company.co.uk
I write to you regarding the names and minimal data on the 1,447 European cantors who served Europe’s myriad pre-war synagogues — some still studying at an Amsterdam conservatory, most in mid-career — murdered in the Shoah. If anyone has information about cantors that should be added, please contact me. Joe Levine jdlevine@comcast.net
