Brand makes his mark once more

-

Adam Brand smashed a 50-ball century as London Maccabi Vale 1st XI returned to winning ways in the Chess Valley League.

The Team GB captain came to the crease in the 32nd over and took the game away from Chingford with a typically brutal innings, finishing on 119 not out just 13 overs later.

GB teammate Lawrence Bensusan was also on top form on his return to action. He followed an unbeaten 122 for Old Merchant Taylor’s 3rd XI 24 hours earlier with another ton for the title hopefuls. Joseph Greenwall-Cohen added a valuable 80 as LMV registered 3984. Chingford’s run chase never materialised as they finished 248 runs short.

Excellent bowling displays from Huddy Lieberman and Harry Rosenblum kept Manchester Cricket Club in the hunt for the second promotion place in the Greater Manchester Amateur Cricket League following an eightwicket success over Offerton.

Lieberman conceded just nine runs from his 10-over spell, while Rosenblum capitalised with figures of 4-22 from five overs.

Ray Tammam and Steve Glicher steered Manchester towards victory in a rain-affected match, with Tammam finishing unbeaten on 32.

An excellent 128-run partnership between Adam Jacobs (76) and Stephen Altman-Richer (41) was not enough as

wentdownbytwo wickets against Southgate Adelaide. Mitchell Mayer gave Southgate a scare with an excellent four-wicket burst, but a series of dropped catches prevented BECC from claiming a famous victory.

Stanmore recorded a 53-run victory over Barnet United in an intersynagogue match. Keith Aizen (34) top-scored as Stanmore posted 154-6 from their 20 overs, with Barnet captain Jamie Lang claiming four wickets.

Excellent spells from David Kaplan (2-11) and Neil Myeroff (3-8) ensured Stanmore came out on top as Barnet finished on 101-9.
