Minister is ready for Brum role
MEMBERS OF Birmingham’s Central Synagogue have endorsed the appointment of Rabbi Dr Lior Kaminetsky and his wife, Rachel, filling a rabbinic couple vacancy lasting more than a year.
Selection committee chair Geoffrey Clements said the Kaminetskys would “lead the congregation into an exciting future”.
Rabbi Kaminetsky, 36, is a seventhgeneration Jerusalemite. Beyond his rabbinic qualification, he is an accomplished chazan and a violinist of international repute who has taught music in Israel and America. The couple will start in Birmingham in August.
Rabbi Kaminetsky said that “three years ago, on a UK concert tour, I had the privilege to get a glimpse of this beautiful community.
“Now I can look forward to a much deeper and meaningful relationship as their rabbi.”
