SCHOOLS’ PLIGHT

-

There has been little coverage of the three-week-old strike of Israeli Christian schools in Israel (in one of which my son teaches English). The government has withdrawn funding from 75 per cent to only 29 per cent which has left the schools unable to operate. On Monday, 450,000 Arab students in non-Christian schools held a one-day strike.

The Christian schools are some of the oldest in Israel, some dating back over 400 years. They achieve excellent results with around 69 per cent of students going on to college or university. Kay Bagon Radlett, Herts
