Flixton rode their luck, says Stuart
MANCHESTER MACCABI 1ST AFC FLIXTON
FOOTBALL AFC FLIXTON launched their Accountants Premier League season in ruthless fashion with a 4-2 win at Manchester Maccabi 1st.
Flixton showed they are in no hurry to surrender their crown with an inspired performance against a Maccabi team tipped to become the new champions.
And once ex-Flixton midfielder Adam Stephens had netted against his old side, Stuart Delmonte and Tony Rosenberg would have been fearing the worst.
But Rafi Leeker, Mason Gould, Callum Neil and Pat Garman responded in style.
Joint-manager Stuart Delmonte said: “It’s a great way for us to start. I think people might have thought we would slip up here.
“Maccabi came flying out of the blocks against us and were really fired up. We were lucky to just be one goal behind.
“But once we took the lead we never look like surrendering. We kept the ball well and were rarely threatened.”
