Red-hot Reiss in a league of his own

-

OCTOBER FEATURED a number of eye-catching performances in the MGBSFL, but no-one was as consistent as Reiss Mogilner — my Player of the Month.

The Brady Maccabi hot-shot registered three consecutive hat-tricks in a real purple patch that accounted for Scrabble FC, North London Raiders B and SPEC FC.

Brady boss Josh Dagul described Mogilner as “unplayable at the moment”. He said: “Reiss is oozing confidence and is one of the best players in the league.”

Jason Stein wins the Manager of the Month accolade. One of the characters of the league, Stein’s Oakwood B have been churning out result after result and they are well-placed to challenge for promotion in Division One.

Stein was commended following victories over Maccabi London Lions B, Real Sosobad, North London Raiders B and a draw against title rivals Brady.

Rob Hershkorn was the star performer in the Premier. He was razor sharp in front of goal and helped propel Camden Park to the summit. Unfortunately he suffered a broken metatarsal and will be out until the new year.

Jon Jacobs took the managerial honours in the top-flight after leading a revamped Redbridge Jewish Care A to the summit, including an eye-catching win over Hendon United Sports Club A.

Scrabble FC hot-shot Zak McLeod edged out a host of team-mates along with Jono Nesbitt of Hendon B and Ed Brafman of Lions B to the top award in Division Two.

L’Equipe boss Nick Stern was rewarded for a string of excellent displays which culminated in a thrilling cup upset over first division Los Blancos. This followed a brilliant performance against double winners Raiders A in the Cyril Anekstein Cup. See Danny Caro’s weekend round-up at thejc.com.
