Redbridge and Raiders reach cup fi nal

- BYDANNYCARO

FOOTBALL REDBRIDGE Jewish Care B will meet North London Raiders B in the final of this season’s MGBSFL/ MMFL Invitational Trophy.

Strikes from Dan Andrews, Daniel Bean, Alex Chernoff, Ben Chernoff and Craig Sandford inspired RJC to a 5-2 success over Scrabble Masters.

NLR progressed after beating SPEC FC 8-7 in a penalty shoot-out after the teams finished deadlocked at 2-2 after 90 minutes. The final takes place at Silver Jubilee Park on June 5.

Jason Stein praised two-goal hero Josh Dickinson as Oakwood B ended their season in style by completing a league double over Brixton Old Boys.

Further strikes from Daniel Seligman, Rafi Bloom and Toby Levy secured Oakwood’s ninth league win.

Oaks boss Jason Stein commented: “We were really pleased to end the season on a high. Brixton worked hard in a match played in good spirits in the glorious sunshine the day after United won an FA Cup and the day before van Gaal was sacked. So really, in those few hours, life was perfect.

“Special mention to super-sub Josh who came off the bench to score twice, including one with his final touch as an Oak for now. He’s returning to uni- versity next year and I wish him all the best. He’s been a great lad and hopefully he’ll be back one day.”

Adam Glekin announced that he is stepping down as manager of Hendon United Sports Club B following the 3-0 win over third-placed Raiders C.

Two goals from Gideon Barth and one from top-scorer Benni Sluckis sealed the points.

Glekin commented: “It’s been a dreadful second half to the season, but it was nice to finish on a high.

“It may be my last game in charge, but this group of guys have been a pleasure to manage and epitomised that today.”
