Shafron targets big prize at Euro football trophy
SPORT DANIEL Shafron is confident his Maccabi GB squad are equipped to challenge for gold at this summer’s European Maccabi Football Trophy in Spain.
ShafronwillspearheadtheOpenFootball squad and he has selected a group featuring players from all three MGBSFL divisions.
He said: “This is an incredible opportunity for the players to compete on the international stage and all the boys are raring to go.”
MGBwonthecompetitionin2010but were forced to settle for silver after going down to France on penalties in 2014.
Manager Shafron said: “They are an excellent, talented group and as long as they continue working hard, trying hard and have belief going in to each of thegames,wewillhaveagreatchanceof bringing home gold.”
DanielTannenbaumhasbeenappointedplayer-managerof MGB’sOpenFutsal squad. He believes the competition will be a good stepping stone for next year’s Maccabiah Games in Israel.
Tannenbaum said: “The squad firmly believes that this is our version of Euro 2016 and we will give 100 per cent when we are out there.
“While we have a small squad, we’ll makeupforitinheartandplantosavour every minute we are on that court.” SQUADS:
