FOOTBALL DAVID Garbacz paid tribute to Camden Park after they gave his Hendon United team a scare in the MGBSFL Premier Division.

Goals from Dovi Fehler, Ari Last and Zack Lewis guided table-topping Hendon to a fourth consecutive victory, but it needed a show of defensive resilience following a goal-of-the season contender from Jake Saunders.

Hendon manager Garbacz said: “We were nowhere near our best but it was very encouraging that we still managed to grind out an important win against a well-organised and skilful Camden team.

“I’m sure Camden will climb the table as the weeks go on, if they continue to close teams down as well as they did to us.”

Camden boss Max Saunders described “the first 60 minutes as probably the best and the most organised I think I have ever seen Camden in the five years I have been involved.”

He said: “It was a great performance where we dominated the best footballing team in the league for the majority of the game. Credit to Hendon, they showed their class in being clinical enough to win games where they were not on top for large parts of the game.”

Daniel Shafron praised his North London Raiders A team for a “dominant performance” in the clash of the champions. Liron Mannie (2), David Dinkin, Dave Cohen and Ben Ellis were among the scorers as they hit Woodford Wanderers for six.

Shafron said: “We attacked with pace and fluidity and created plenty of chances while defensively we were solid and never troubled.”

Woodford joint-manager Daryl Kay was left to rue the absence of four regulars and admitted “the NLR front-line was too much for us”.

Brady Maccabi were the top-scorers on Matchday Four, with Reiss Mogilner (2), Dan Cohen (2), Rob Cohen, Dan Harrod, Ben Kohler and Marc Rister steering them to an 8-2 demolition of FC Team A.

Jono Nesbitt described five-goal hero Adam Ellis as “untouchable” following Hendon B’s 6-1 success over Brixton Old Boys. His tally included an “incredible” 45-yard lob in a game where defender Glen Turner completed the rout.

Nesbitt said: “The boys showed desire to score but to also come back and defend when needed.”

Daniel Polak (3), Gav Krieger and Alon Pinhas fired Finchley City FC to a 5-1 win over lowly Athletic Bilbaum.

Sam Marchant came away from Lions B’s 3-1 win over Faithfold A “feeling positive”. Adam Abadi, Josh Bloom and Daniel Mattey sent the Lions to the top of Division One. Marchant said: “We were far from our best but if you’re to go far in a league campaign, winning when not at your best is vital.

“I feel our squad has much more to give and it’s about getting every cog in
