Rampaging Redbridge can sweep the board

- BYDANNYCARO

FOOTBALL SAM Rank sent out a title warning after Redbridge Jewish Care’s teams in the Premier, First and Second divisions maintained their perfect starts.

Russell Goldstein produced a master-class as RJC A condemned Maccabi London Lions to their first defeat.

Goldstein, who also plays for the England Futsal team, fired a hat-trick in a 5-0 success. Further strikes from Daniel Garfinkle and James Berkley completed their third consecutive victory.

Redbridge B inflicted a first defeat of the season on North London Raiders B courtesy of strikes from Dean Ben Yosef, Richie Caplin, Carl Dobrin and Anthony Cope. Goalkeeper Scott Shear preserved a clean sheet in what Rank described as “a top-class penalty save”.

Rank commented: “It was a very organised and well-constructed performance.

“The scoreline could have been a lot more, but the boys were fantastic. They worked as a team, worked for each other and it was just a brilliant match to watch.”

Jimmy Castle was the hat-trick hero as Redbridge C crushed previously unbeaten Temple Fortune 5-2. Rafe Neiman and Daniel Jacobs completed the scoring.

“This was by far our best display so far this season,” said RJC boss Josh Hambling. “I asked the boys to come out of the blocks fast and they definitely delivered as we went 2-0 up in 20 minutes. We battered them in the first half and some of our movement and work-rate was different class.

“I think our season is well and truly under way after that display and I know the boys don’t fear anyone in this league.”

Jordan Shafaria and Gab Stone replied for Fortune and boss Simon Linden acknowledged: “Redbridge were the better team on the day.”
