POOR DAISY Lowe; she can’t seem to catch a break on can she?

Having been up for elimination last week, she came back on Saturday with fury in her feet and fire in her eyes.

But then Sunday rolled around and, once again, she found herself in the bottom two and facing a dance-off against US singer Anastacia.

In the end it was Anastacia who left the competition; Daisy is a far, far better dancer and her routine was superior.

Still, it must be disconcerting for the model to know that, while she racks up the points and positive comments from the judges every week, she fails to secure the public vote.

Her performance really did not warrant such harsh treatment. The programme’s theme was Halloween, and she and her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec performed their paso doble painted as Mexican Day of the Dead ghouls. It was a spicy and original routine brimming with flamenco stomps and beautiful shaping.

The judges approved, with Bruno Tonioli even handing out a nine. So when presenter Tess Daly revealed she had sunk to the bottom two, it was hardly surprising the mod- el’s face turned whiter than her ghoulish make-up. Still, she was back to her ever-smiling self on Tuesday, as she appeared on Strictly spin-off on Tuesday evening. She revealed she was relieved to be returning to ballroom in next week’s routine. “We’re doing a Viennese waltz, so we’re back in hold,” she said. “It feels like being in the womb, it is so comforting.” Meanwhile Judge Robert Rinder con- tinues to impress and surprise. This week he gave us his own paso doble — dressed as a moth — executing knee walks with operatic theatricality.

All the judges praised his aggression, with Craig Revel Horwood noting it was the “strongest and darkest we’ve ever seen you”.

For me, the night could only belong to one performer, and that had to be Ed Balls, and his cha cha in character as a mad scientist. There is something so endearingly potty about his routines.
