Reich ready for title clash

ALL eyes will be on Merseyside when Haroldeans and Reich Insurance White go head-tohead in Sunday’s potential MJSL title decider.

Leaders Haroldeans are in the box seat as they hold a nine-point lead. But Reich White have three games in hand and a win will make them favourites to be crowned champions.

Reich director of football Michael Gastwirth said: “We are under no illusions that it will be a difficult match, like it always is going to Liverpool.

“We will go with a game-plan and hopefully it’s enough for us to get the win we need towards taking us to our first title.

“Haroldeans have won the league many times and have the experience to fall back on. We haven’t got that. But it won’t detract us from doing what we need to do.

“We have surprised a lot of teams with the way we have played this season. And long may that continue.”

Haroldeans have led from the front throughout. Besides a blip at Reich Insurance Blue, which saw them crushed 6-0, it has been plain sailing for Mike Bloomberg’s side.

He said: “I couldn’t have asked more from the players. Now it’s a case of getting over the line.

“We’ve taken it one game at a time and every time we have won it has piled more pressure on the teams trying to catch us. We have to do the same again.”

Reich Blue are also in contention and a win over Maccabi Manchester Blue is required to keep them in the title mix.

But Stuart Delmonte’s men are outsiders given they will only have three matches left and are five points off the summit.

Delmonte does not believe it’s a three-horse race and said: “Realistically I don’t think we can win it. We have dropped too many points, but we can certainly have a big say.

“It would be great for Reich White to win it if we don’t.”
