FEBRUARY 17
Labour Students announces it is investigating OULC over the claims
FEBRUARY 23
Labour Party is handed report which includes allegations against two individuals
FEBRUARY24
Labour Students is told Baroness Royall will take over the investigation and the evidence contained in the report
APRIL 26
Jeremy Corbyn appoints Shami Chakrabarti, the former Liberty director, as chair of a wider inquiry into antisemitism and other forms of racism within the party. Baroness Royall is made vicechair “to build on and feed in the experience and findings of her prior investigation into allegations of antisemitism in parts of the youth movement”
MAY 17
Labour’s NEC publishes only summary recommendations of Baroness Royall’s report, saying she found no evidence of institutional racism. The NEC admits “difficulties” have to be addressed to ensure a “safe space” for all Labour students
MAY18
Labour is accused of a cover-up over the report and Baroness Royall expresses disappointment only “part of the story” has been revealed
JUNE 30
The Chakrabarti report concludes antisemitism is not endemic within Labour — but makes recommendations that use of words like “Zio”, and comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany, have “no place” in the party
AUGUST3
The full version of the Royall report is leaked to the media, including the JC, and confirms members of OULC “did” engage in antisemitic acts
