Labour Students announces it is investigat­ing OULC over the claims

FEBRUARY 23

Labour Party is handed report which includes allegation­s against two individual­s

FEBRUARY24

Labour Students is told Baroness Royall will take over the investigat­ion and the evidence contained in the report

APRIL 26

Jeremy Corbyn appoints Shami Chakrabart­i, the former Liberty director, as chair of a wider inquiry into antisemiti­sm and other forms of racism within the party. Baroness Royall is made vicechair “to build on and feed in the experience and findings of her prior investigat­ion into allegation­s of antisemiti­sm in parts of the youth movement”

MAY 17

Labour’s NEC publishes only summary recommenda­tions of Baroness Royall’s report, saying she found no evidence of institutio­nal racism. The NEC admits “difficulti­es” have to be addressed to ensure a “safe space” for all Labour students

MAY18

Labour is accused of a cover-up over the report and Baroness Royall expresses disappoint­ment only “part of the story” has been revealed

JUNE 30

The Chakrabart­i report concludes antisemiti­sm is not endemic within Labour — but makes recommenda­tions that use of words like “Zio”, and comparison­s between Israel and Nazi Germany, have “no place” in the party

AUGUST3

The full version of the Royall report is leaked to the media, including the JC, and confirms members of OULC “did” engage in antisemiti­c acts
